Photographic Prints and Collections

This is a portfolio of work originally commissioned and collected by the Free Library of Philadelphia's Print and Picture department in the 1980s, 90s, and 00s. This homepage is an overview of the collection while the Gallery has a wider selection of images showing Portraits, Northeast Philadelphia, Frankford and Kensington, North Philadelphia, Center City, South Philadelphia, Storefronts, Architecture and Construction. The total collection contains close to 1400 images of Philadelphia from that era. A list of the dates and locations of the specific projects can be found on the Portfolios and Dates page. These images are also in the collections of the Special Collections Research Center in the Charles Library at Temple University, Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Atwater Kent Museum and numerous Private Collections.
